Global Diligence LLP and the International Partnership for Human Rights submit a joint Article 15 Communication on Ukraine to the International Criminal Court

On 23 October 2015, Global Diligence LLP and the International Partnership for Human Rights submitted a joint Article 15 Communication on international crimes committed as part of the ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine to the International Criminal Court Prosecutor.

The Communication is a result of a year-long field investigation conducted by IPHR in the conflict-affected areas of Eastern Ukraine. Global Diligence LLP, led by partner Alexandre Prezanti, analysed the evidence in light of applicable international criminal law and concluded that there is a reasonable basis to believe that war crimes and crimes against humanity have been committed on the territory of Ukraine since March 2014. War crimes documented in the Communication include direct and indiscriminate attacks on civilians, murder, torture, inhuman and degrading treatment as well as widespread destruction and appropriation of property and pillage. In addition, the Communication documents the crimes against humanity of murder, torture, other inhumane acts and persecution on political and religious grounds. The Communication requests the ICC Prosecutor to seek authorization for a full investigation into these and other international crimes.
